Department of Aquatic Environment and Management

Overview

The College was established in the year 1969. Prof. H.P.C Shetty was the founder of the College. He was the Director of Instruction during 1969-1990. Under his leadership the college gained name nationally and internationally, first in India and South East Asia. At present, we have 16 Fisheries Colleges. The Department started functioning form 1969 onwards. The erstwhile department of Fishery Oceanography and Limnology was renamed as Fishery Hydrography during 1975, subsequently the department was split into department of Aquatic Biology and Department of Fishery Oceanography in 1981. Keeping in view of the past and present teaching and research program the 2 departments have been merged and renamed as department of Fisheries Environment and Ecology. Department of FEE has been renamed as Department of Aquatic Environment Management as per the KAR norms during 2010.
Aim and Objectives

  • To promote quality education in AEM (UG & PG)
  • To impart the contemporary research in aquatic biodiversity, eco-toxicology,   atmospheric science, aquatic pollution, water quality management in fish/shrimp cultural systems environmental biotechnology and disaster management
  • To train the personals for the management of aquatic resources
