Student Counseling and Placement

The College has placement cell managed by senior faculty. Wide publicity is given as and when various organizations approach the University for their requirement of graduates. All possible help is being extended to the graduates to find a suitable job. Campus interviews are also being arranged whenever required by the organizations.

 

The main activities of the Placement Cell include:

  • Creating a database of the alumni seeking job.
  • Creating a database of the probable recruiters including both Govt and private sector.
  • Creating a database of successful and distinguished alumni who have achieved  and contributed significantly to the society.
  • Organizing campus interviews for the recruitment of the graduates and postgraduate students of the College by potential employers.
  • Notifying requests from private organizations and job advertisements requiring fisheries graduates to the student community.
  • To provide guidance to students for skill improvement by organizing the trainings for personality development, communication skill, mock group discussions etc. as well as training for competitive examinations for ARS/fellowships/ civil services etc.
  • An exclusive PPMC (Project Planning and monitoring Cell) and NISAGENET (National Information System and Agricultural Network) are established in the College.

Placement statistics:

The Placement and Career Guidance cell of College of Fisheries, Mangalore is started with an aim to act as a liason unit between the students and the recruiting agencies.   Known for its well established infrastructure facilities and quality education, the alumni of the College have spread all over the country and have carved out a niche for themselves in India and abroad.

  • Since 2005-06, the placement cell has facilitated the employment of about 10 students in private sector such as feed companies, hatcheries, processing industries.
  • Since 2005, 84 Fisheries Graduates of this College have been appointed as Asst. Director of Fisheries in the Dept of Fisheries Got of Karnataka.
  • A total of 4 M.F.Sc. have joined prestigious Agriculture Research Service of ICAR
