LABORATORY & RESEARCH FACILITIES
- All the departments is well equipped with latest equipments to impart practical fisheries training effectively and to aid in the research fulfillment of the PG courses. The college has Nutrition and Histopathology lab, Post-Harvest Fishery laboratory, Fishery Engineering and Electronics laboratory
- The College has a Computer Centre for the use of staff and students. It consists of a server and 25 terminals.
- Departments are equipped to analyze the quality of water and soil, ELA studies and carry out ecotoxicological studies.
FISH FARM FACILITIES
The College has a well laid-out fish farm with ponds of area well over 25 ha. Presently it has 100 assorted cement tanks and masonry ponds and 49 earthen ponds for imparting practical training and conducting research in fresh water aquaculture.
The farm also has a CIFE model portable carp hatchery to train students in carp breeding and seed production. Carp seeds are being produced and sold to local farmers. Recently the college has got ICAR grants for developing an experiential learning unit to impart hands on training to the students under actual commercial production. The EL unit will come up soon.
The library has a collection of over 14,000 books, 2,700 technical reports, 800 pamphlets, 5,800 bound periodicals and 4,700 reprints. The College receives 55 journals of which 20 are international. The College library is acclaimed as one of the best Fisheries Libraries in the country. The FAO has recognized this library for inclusions of research abstracts in their publication ASFA. The library has a computerized accessing system.
The College has two research vessels RTV Nethravathi and RTV Deepa. They are used for training our students as well as for research activities. The vessels are equipped with modern electronic gadgets like sonar, GPS, radio-telephone system and radar. This has been acquired with a special grant from ICAR
TIE-UP WITH INTERNATIONAL ORGANISATIONS
The college has signed MOU with American, German and Sweden Universities for research and student exchange programmes
Bank and Post office services are provided at the main campus. The College has a dispensary in its main campus for the benefit of staff and students.
GAMES & SPORTS
The college has excellent facilities for games and sports. The main campus has a play ground with facilities for cricket, basket ball, volley ball, badminton etc.
A swimming pool with attached indoor games complex with facilities of Badminton court, Table tennis , Gymnasium to expose, nurture and build sport talents as they study in the campus.
Separate hostel blocks for boys and girls are located in the main campus. Boys’ hostel can accommodate 200 students, while the girls’ hostel has the facility for about 40 students.
